Solid Oak Console Table Toile De Jouy Decoupage

This beautiful petite console table from 1940's has been given new lease on life. This table is made from solid oak, comes with original pulls and one rather roomy drawer.

Its very versatile style of furniture which could be used as a small laptop desk, console table or if you hang the mirror it would be suitable to use as small dressing table.

I've stripped this console from old dark brown varnish and wanted to lighten the wood. I used paint wash technique to lighten the oak. I used Toile De Jouy white & blue pattern paper to decoupage the desk including sides, back & inside of the drawer. Underneath the desk is painted in navy blue mineral paint to match Toile de Jouy colour scheme. I've added dark brown wax on decoupage to soften the look and create naturally aged patina. Overall created beautiful & romantic themed console table.
